Strnad originally established the band in Michigan in 2001. The name is inferred first from the murder of Elizabeth Short, furthermore popular as the Black Dahlia, which has developed into one of Los Angeles’ longest unsolved cases.
The band has continued to remain on the label to this day, planning to release eight more full-length albums over the years.
Verminous, the band’s last track, was released in April 2020, and Strnad explained it as “the biggest evolutionary leap.”
“We want an album to feel like a wild ride,’ he once spoke about Verminous. A peaks-and-valleys adventure from start to finish.’
The cause of his death has not yet been revealed. However, there is speculation that he committed suicide.
During his twenty-year tenure with the music band, Strnad released nine albums, most recently Verminous from 2020. Yule them All, the band’s live DVD, was set to be released soon.
